The Lilongwe Wildlife Centre - run by the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust - is Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary. Most of the animals it supports have been rescued from poaching, the illegal pet trade and other forms of wildlife crime and abuse.
The team also operates an emergency response unit that rescues animals from life-threatening situations in the field - whether it’s removing a poacher’s snare from an elephant or helping to relocate a lion that has wandered beyond the safety of park boundaries.

Our Malawi Wildlife Rescue series follows the dedicated team at the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre as they go above and beyond to rescue injured and orphaned animals and get them back to a life in the wild.
