The Lilongwe Wildlife Centre - run by the Lilongwe Wildlife Trust - is Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary. Most of the animals it supports have been rescued from poaching, the illegal pet trade and other forms of wildlife crime and abuse.
The team also operates an emergency response unit that rescues animals from life-threatening situations in the field - whether it’s removing a poacher’s snare from an elephant or helping to relocate a lion that has wandered beyond the safety of park boundaries.

Our Malawi Wildlife Rescue series follows the dedicated team at the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre as they go above and beyond to rescue injured and orphaned animals and get them back to a life in the wild.
Thanks to amazing support from Love Nature viewers, the team have received donations and support that have enabled them to rescue even more animals. But every day more animals need their help - and they urgently need support to buy food, medicine and equipment to help these animals have a second chance at life.
